About this exhibit

The hunt, the bow & the wild

Reference and coverage

An original modern interpretation of a mythological tradition, not an archaeological find, ancient statue replica or definitive likeness. Display regions may cut across a continuous figure; detached attributes are separate modeled objects. Colors, costume details and proportions are artistic choices.

Hunting bow · stave

Attributes

A recurved stave forms the bow’s continuous spring-like outline.

Bow and quiver are familiar attributes of Artemis in ancient representation. The displayed bow design is interpretive and is not a functional weapon specification.

A fine line connects the two ends of the bow.

The string makes the bow’s working relationship legible. Draw weight and material performance are not simulated.
